Cullen 21
Thursday 3rd June 2021
A scooter run to Cullen (187 miles).
After the awful weather we had in May, June is turning out much better. I took a wee run to Cullen following the coast and then returned inland.
I went down to Alness to get petrol at Morrisons and food for the day at LIDL. I then followed the A9 to Inverness and then the A96 out to Nairn.
At Nairn I turned off to Kingsteps and took the back road to Brodie. This is at Brodie.
At Forres I headed out by Burghead, Hopeman and Lossiemouth.
You have to head back towards Elgin as there is no crossing the Spey near Lossiemouth. It is best to avoid Elgin so I headed to Mosstodloch. Elgin takes an age to get through having to go through roundabout after roundabout. I stopped for lunch between Mosstodloch and Portgordon. The whins are amazing.
I moved on to Portgordon, Buckie, Portknockie and Cullen.
Buckie harbour
Portknockie
Cullen was the furthest point reached.
Then I headed inland to Keith. Here I picked up petrol at Tesco. The day was really warm.
We have some place names in the north of Scotland
From Keith I went on to Craigellachie which is a lovely place. I was so hot I had to remove my fleece and just have a T-shirt under my leather jacket.
I headed then to Archiestown. Looking to Ben Rinnes from between Craigellachie and Archiestown
Archiestown
I stopped in Forres and had something to eat at the park at the West end of town.
As I cam back West the day got cloudier and cooler. I stopped beyond Nairn to put my fleece back on. Looking north from beyond Nairn
I went by Ardersier to Inverness.
I went over the Black Isle by Munlochy and Culbokie. Looking to Ben Wyvis from the Black Isle.
I reached home by 5 for my tea.
