The penultimate section of our walking the Moray Coastal Trail – Portessie to Findochty (5.0 miles).
Today we did two walks to complete our walk along the Moray Coastal Trail. Anne and Mairi walked to Findochty nearly every day of the holiday. I did it once but never as far as the church, our marker of where we reached previously.
We left our wee cottage at 4 Rannas Place at 10.30 and followed the coast to Findochty. This is at the limits.
The hotel at Strathlene.
Once upon a time there was a Lido here. You would have to be brave or out of your mind to bathe this morning.
Just outside Findochty we crossed a stream using the Shallie Briggie ( in English – the narrow bridge).
And reached Findochty Harbour.
This is the White Mannie.
We walked as far as the Church of Scotland where we worshiped on Sunday morning. It is also where we reached when we walked from Portknockie to Findochty last summer. So it completes another small section of the Trail.
We had a wander round Findochty and went up to the war memorial.
We thought this might be a shortcut to our track home but it wasn’t so we had to retrace our steps.
The Methodist Church. The sign outside says it all – Jesus is Lord.
We returned to Portessie using the old railway track. Straight as an arrow.
I was forced to take this picture by the women. You can hardly see it but it is of a wee pony.
This is looking over the roof-tops in Portessie.
We came down this flight of steps. We would have been a wee bit earlier but I started speaking to a man coming down the steps. The people from here are delightful.
And reached our cottage at 12.40.
What a lovely healthy morning. It was much colder than it has been so we were wearing jackets and gloves but it was dry.
So now we have done
