A repeated section of the Moray Coastal Trail (5.8 miles).
There is high air pressure over us at the moment and the weather is fantastic. Anne and I had a day out to redo this section of the Moray Coastal Trail. We had done this section on the 30th December 2021 but because the bridge was closed over the River Lossie we were diverted by a very long detour out to Arthur’s Bridge. Today we were able to use the new bridge.
We drove to Forres where we had a bacon roll at Mackenzie & Cruickshanks. I had a small glass of milk with it. We then came to Lossiemouth by Elgin and parked near the public toilet and the new bridge. This is the old bridge below. No chance of crossing it!

And the new bridge below.

Once over the bridge we walked East along the beach.

We walked along the sand till it changed to pebbles. The pebbles were so difficult to walk on we diverted out to the sand dunes.

The sand dunes were terribly heavy to walk through so we followed a track shown on the map on my phone and got onto decent tracks to take us through the forest.

After the dunes I needed a wee rest. It is just seven weeks since surgery and I am still not quite back to my old self. Excuse the stupid hat but I am terribly sensitive to sun burn.

The war defences started.

Following forest tracks.

We came down through the forest past a lot of war defences to the sign post on the beach. That was the Moray Coastal Trail completed properly.

We went out over the pebbles to see the sea and take some photos.

Our lunch picnic was eaten near the sign post on the beach.

We took a slightly different track to get back and avoided the heavy going sand in the dunes.

The track took us to the River Lossie which we followed.

We followed it back to the old bridge.

And came back to the car. A much shorter walk than the last time!
