A wee scooter run to Rogart and Lairg (90 miles).

Today had an amazing forecast to reach 25°C. I decided to take my scooter out for a run for the first time since my radical prostatectomy. It was good to be out though with a little discomfort.

I went down to Alness to Morrisons for petrol.

I then headed to Invergordon and out by Saltburn, Barbaraville and Kildary to get onto the A9. I followed the A9 past Tain and onto the Dornoch Bridge. These pictures are taken at the start of the bridge.

I prefer to take the Cuthill road through Dornoch and then the Embo and Skelbo road to avoid the A9. This is looking over Loch Fleet (not really seen) to Little Ferry and beyond that is Ben Bhraggie with the monument on top. It is above Golspie where I was born.

Loch Fleet.

There are actually seals on that sandbank.

This is using GIMP to zoom in on the sand-bank.

I came back onto the A9 before Cambusavie Hospital now Cambusmore Lodge. After the Mound I turned off to Lairg. This is arriving at Rogart.

Beyond the village I went left to go to Inchcape and the memorial to Sir John Alexander Macdonald the first prime minister of Canada. After a short loop you come back onto the Mound – Lairg road.

This is Loch Shin in Lairg.

In Lairg I took the road branching out to Lochinver to go to Rosehall. Before Roshall it was time for lunch. I had my wee stove with me to make a Pot Noodle and some coffee.

My rather delicious lunch.

Look at the broom. It is stunning just now.

The bog cotton makes quite a show.

I came down to Rosehall and beyond it went onto the Inveroykel Culrain road. I had to briefly stop at the Bailey Bridge.

The River Oykel.

Coming down towards Culrain – the Kyle of Sutherland.

I came down to Ardgay and came over the Struie to home. Lovely to be back out but I was tired and a bit aching in places best not to mention.
