Scrabster 24
Saturday 6th January 2024
Thurso to Scrabster (4.4 miles).
Anne and I had a lovely run up to Golspie where we stopped at ‘Poppies’ for something to eat. We came to the North Coast via Strath Hallidale and through Reay to get to Thurso. Neither of the two public toilets were open, good old Highland Council. So we had to go to a pub to use their facilities. Very kind of them. We parked at the harbour and had a wee picnic in the car. We then walked along the coast to Scrabster. We left about 1.00.
That is where we are headed. You can make out the lighthouse at Holborn Head. We didn’t go that far. There had been a couple of heavy showers before we left but it stayed dry for the walk.
The route just follows the sea.
Leaving my old bashed up Fusion. Will it get another MOT? Part of the reason we came this far was to use up some diesel. I had filled it up and it’s MOT is due in less than a fortnight!
Coming round to Scrabster.
That is some landslip.
We went as far as the ferry terminal, reaching there about 1.45.
Looking out to Dunnet Head.
Thurso ahead.
We got back to the car around 2.30. We went to some shops including this charity shop and bought the monster tiger for our grandson. We headed down the East Coast racing the dark. We bought a Chinese Takeaway in Alness for our tea which we had in the comfort of our home. It was lovely to be in the North again.
