Skye Bridge 24
Tuesday 6th February 2024
A walk over the Skye Bridge from Kyle of Lochalsh to Kyleakin (3.1 miles).
Anne and I celebrated her birthday, which was on Sunday, with a wee trip west. We went to Dingwall first and then came over to Kyle. We had a wee look at Kyle and then ate our picnic lunch in the car. We set off on this short walk after our lunch.
That is the bridge ahead from below the car park.
The hills of Skye are ahead. This is a short bridge over to an island before the main bridge.
Raasay is the island with the square topped hill on it.
It was very windy once on the bridge proper.
Looking to Kyleakin.
Looking back.
We went as far as the Kyleakin Roundabout.
The island between the two bridges has that two houses on it. What a place to live before the bridge was built! The bridge was opened in 1995. Before that you caught a ferry.
Heading back. We stopped at the COOP.
We came back to the car a bit windswept. We went to Plockton on our way home and we had chip suppers for tea when we reached home. Anne a white pudding and me a mince and gravy pie. A good day.
