A short walk round Huntly (2.9 miles).
After a strenuous walk yesterday we went to Huntly. We had a look in some shops, in particular the charity shops, and then went to ASDA for lunch. ASDA in Huntly is very special. It is where we stopped two days after my prostate surgery on our way home from Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. I suddenly felt normal, relieved and incredibly happy even if I was fitted with a catheter. Today I had a panini with chips. Anne had a baked potato with beans. After our lunch we went for our walk. We found the route on Walkhighlands. It is a brilliant website if you are in the North of Scotland and enjoy walking.
First thing this morning snow was falling at Portknockie. We passed through quite a bit of snow travelling to Huntly, even lying on the road. It was a very cold day but terrible weather had been forecast a few days ago but it turned out a lovely day.
We parked at the Market Muir car park and headed up Gordon Street and reached the square. It is rather beautiful.
We then headed down to Gordon School. Now is that not some building for a school!

We continued down and arrived at Huntly Castle. What an impressive castle.
We crossed the burn.
And we came to the Deveron River which we followed for a while.
The countryside round Huntly is really lovely.
Just look at the state of the track. It was drier walking beside it.
We came back into Huntly. This beautiful path leads you through the tress almost to the centre.
We came back up Gordon Street to the car. A grand wee walk.
