A walk from Banff to Macduff (3.7 miles).

Today was terribly wet until 3.00 in the afternoon. After lunch we drove through to Banff where Anne wanted to have a shop in the Spotty Bag Shop. We then had a wee picnic in the car. The rain stopped so we decided to walk to Macduff.

We set off from Greenbanks Car Park and crossed the River Deveron which we had walked beside yesterday at Huntly. I was knocked by a bus on the bridge even though I was on the pavement! The sea was wild as we headed to Macduff. Before Macduff we headed up to the Macduff Parish Church which stands on top of a hill in full view of the town.

Before that we went into the Platform. What a very expensive shop. Anne took all of today’s photos. These were taken from outside the Platform.

The Parish Church is a beautiful building.

In front of the church is the town cross and a large historic anchor, recovered from the bay. The anchor was from a pirate ship that sank some 200 years ago.

We then wandered around Macduff and walked up to the War Memorial Tower.

Looking back to Banff and the Parish Church.

Looking to the harbour.

We came down to the harbour and used the public loo.

We then walked back to the car. This is looking back the way we came to Macduff. The weather is a lot better and the Parish Church is very clear.

It was good to get a good walk on a poor weather day.
