Abriachan to Drumnadrochit (13.7 miles).
Anne and I tackled a tougher section of the Great Glen Way. It involves a bit of ascent. We started at Drumnadrochit and walked to Abriachan returning the same way. This got the climb out the way while we were fresh.
We came to Drumnadrochit via Inverness to pick up the laminate flooring I had ordered at B&Q.
We took our ‘new’ Fusion to Drumnadrochit and parked in the town. The car park is free. Good old Drumnadrochit. Our ‘new’ car is the fourth along. It’s our third Fusion.
Anne is heading North. We left the car at about 9.50. The route follows the main road to Inverness (A82). It is busy but once out of the village there is a good pavement until the track starts.

We stopped not far up from the main road to have something to eat.

We eventually came off the path onto a track. This took us to Abriachan. There certainly is a climb. This is an elevation profile for the day.
At about 1000 feet was this croft.
This is the last of the whins being in bloom. Lower down they have all turned.

We found a nice big table at Abriachan Forest and had our picnic and a rest.
We then headed back. After and initial climb it was downhill all the way. The loch here is a bit like in Arthur Ransome.
Once down there was a nice Highland cow.
A really enjoyable section of the Great Glen Way completed.
We went to the ScotMid COOP and bought a couple of Magnums which hit the spot. We then came home via the Coul na Kirk.
