A circular walk from Fortrose to Rosemarkie (5.2 miles).
Mairi treated us to a lovely morning for our 42nd wedding anniversary! She came for us at 9.15 and drove us over to Fortrose, in her wee white car, where we parked by the Cathedral.
We had stopped in Avoch at the ScotMid COOP where Mairi purchased cakes for a picnic. We ate this in the car as it was quite cold outside. This is the ruins of the cathedral.

This beautiful building was just across from the car.

We headed down Academy Street where Anne saw an old friend, Helen, Mary Manson’s daughter. She had a blether with her. Then we moved a short bit further to St. Andrews Episcopal Church.

We went inside. It is a rather lovely church.

We continued past the school and as we got near to the campsite we saw these lovely views of the Beauly Firth.

Walking by the golf course.

We came to the end at Chanonry Point.

We left the point heading to Rosemarkie which is ahead in the next picture. We just followed a path parallel to the beach. The path is marked with red posts.

Isn’t that a show of poppies!

Rocks have been piled all along the shore wall because of severe erosion last winter.

We came to the main beach at Rosemarkie where we made use of the public convenience!

We headed up the burn and this time followed its right bank. We passed these interesting flowers.

Lots of little bridges went to people’s back gardens.

We even saw Pixieland.

And reached the bridge where there is the path up to the Fairy Glen.

We came back into the village just a short distance to get the path up to above Fortrose and Rosemarkie. Anne is at its start.

It becomes quite a steep climb.

Once we got up there was this stunning view out to Chanonry Point where we had recently been.

Looking over to Fort George.

At the top.

Then its a steep downhill by road to Fortrose.

It was then back to the car. Mairi drove on to Avoch and parked at the harbour where she treated us to a lovely picnic lunch. We sat at a table and bench. It was quite cold and we were glad to get back in the car after eating. Mairi then drove us home.
What a lovely wedding anniversary treat.
