A walk from Craigellachie to Carron (11.6 miles).
With a good forecast for the morning, less so for the afternoon, Anne and I walked another section of the Speyside Way, from Craigellachie to Carron. We had reached Craigellachie back in March.
We came through to Buckie last night staying in the Old Coach House Hotel for a couple of nights. We made an early start to avoid the rain and drove to the car park just over the Spey coming from the North on the left at Craigellachie. We started walking at 8.55. Today’s route follows the old Strathspey Railway and is very straightforward.

I took a quick photo of the road bridge over the Spey. The Speyside Way runs along the top of the park.

Very quickly you come to this duct that takes you under the road.

The Telford bridge can just be seen.

Not far on is this short tunnel.

Just look at the brickwork.

These harebells were growing out of the brickwork just outside the tunnel.

We came to Charlestown of Aberlour and left the Speyside Way to come up the High Street. Anne wanted to look at shops. Quite a church in the next picture.

We rejoined the Speyside Way going down by the cemetery.

Look at this very old bridge.

And crossed this suspension bridge over the Burn of Aberlour.

At 10.00 we stopped at a bench above the Spey.

This is Dailuaine Distillery’s Bio Plant.

Just before Carron we crossed to the other side (North side) of the Spey for the first time.

And reached Carron.

We reached the centre of the village and stopped at a bench to rest. A father and daughter who were almost finished doing the Moray Trail joined us.

We headed back the way we had come. We had seen a path near the Dailuaine Bio Plant which we thought might take us up to the hamlet and Dailuaine Terrace. It led to this smallholding so we turned back. It’s a pity. We spent several lovely weekends with friends Donald and Janice at Dailuaine. It would have been nice to see it again.

A bit beyond Dailuaine we stopped for our lunch. The we came back to Aberlour but stuck to the Speyside Way.

We kept walking until we got back to the car. We made a wee diversion to see the Telford Bridge. Just as we left it and got back to the car it started to rain!

I ‘borrowed’ the map from Maximum Adventure’s website.

So now we have done
