A scooter run to Caithness (197 miles).

The day had a reasonable forecast and I feel a bit stressed at the moment. I just needed to get away by myself.

I headed up over the Struie and took the road down to Edderton. Crossing the Dornoch Firth by the bridge I just kept going north till just beyond Helmsdale where I stopped to stretch. This is looking back to Helmsdale

I went on to Wick stopping at Tesco to get food and also petrol. I used the Tesco app on my phone as my clubcard! What a genius. I needed help from an assistant!

At Ackergill I headed left and stopped a short distance on to eat my wee picnic. I sat at the edge of a bridge, as it made a good seat.

Now I didn’t follow the North Coast but followed inland tracks to get to Reay. This is Loch Watten.

Loch Scarmclate. It is wonderful out here.

Looking down to Morven – the hill just to the right of the black cow in the centre.

Loch Calder.

I joined the North Coast road at Reay and went down to Sandside Bay.

Dounreay, once a prototype fast breeder nuclear reactor, now being decommissioned.

Beyond Reay I headed down the Halladale road. As usual I took the Glen Loth road. I stopped near the top for my picnic.

A bit further on we see Morven from the south.

At Golspie rain came on and the roads were wet after that. The rain did not last long and I dried out. I came back the same way as I left by Edderton and the Struie road.
