A walk round Loch Morlich (3.8 miles).

We had a super day with Mairi and Graham going for a car run and a couple of walks. We drove through to Forres in our Fusion and went to Mackenzie and Cruickshank’s for a scone. This a life experience I would advise. Put it on your bucket list. We followed the Grantown road but cut off at Dava for Lochindorb and had a wee walk by the loch. We came up the other side to Carrbridge. Then we came to Loch Morlich and parked at the water-sports end and had a wee picnic. We walked round the loch.

This is a very easy walk. It is short. There is very little climbing. The tracks are good.

We had to use the loo before setting off and after!

With no tide the tracks in the sand remain.

These are taken from near the car park.

The first obstacle is getting over the Abhainn Rhuigh-eunachan that flows into Loch Morlich. How do you pronounce these Gaelic names? There was a fantastic footbridge to get over.

There is a toad in the next photo.

That is amazing that the way to the Lairig Ghru is here. I haven’t been there for maybe 20 years.

At the other end of the loch the river flowing out is the River Luineag. A superb bridge takes you over it.

That must be Cairngorn, looking up the river.

Looking to Cairn Gorm.

This is a beautiful walk. We then went to Aviemore to Home Bargains. Then we went home via Slochd and Farr and had a MacDonald’s in Inverness for tea. I so loved the day.
