A wee trip with Mairi and a walk to Meikle Ferry South (3.0 miles)
Mairi wanted to deliver her Christmas presents to the folks in Dornoch. She asked if I wanted to come along as she had the day off on Wednesday. It is just lovely to have time with my wee daughter so of course I eagerly said “yes”. I’m also getting to be a real old man and like being driven and seeing the countryside.
Mairi came for me at 8.45 and we filled her wee car with Anne’s (and mine I suppose) presents to go to Dornoch. We headed North. We reached Dornoch before 10.00 and dropped the presents off and collected the reciprocated ones! Both Billy and Donella were out but we knew that beforehand.
We went to the “Tall Pines” restaurant at Evelix and had bacon rolls. My treat. I had milk and Mairi had hot water.
Then we came South and after crossing the Dornoch Firth Bridge Mairi parked just off the roundabout near the Kingdom Hall. We walked out and back to Ferry Point. The wind was fierce and we got caught in a couple of showers.
This is us at Ferry Point. This must the pier where the ferry arrived and left from. A man stopped in his big 4 x 4 and had a chat with us as we walked to here.

This ramshackle building was just beside the pier. The roof was nearly coming off in the wind. You can see some of it has already come off. Mairi is fighting the gale.
We had passed these war buildings on the way up and stopped to take a look on the way back.
We got blown back to the car. Mairi took me back to her home and gave me my lunch. I am becoming the real old age pensioner, being taken out for a run by my daughter. We watched two of ‘Still Game’ Christmas specials. Mairi then ran me home. What a lovely day for an old dad.
