A walk over Creag Bheag from Kingussie (4.0 miles).
Anne and I had a lovely day away from home. We drove down to Kingussie avoiding the A9 as much as possible by driving south via Nairnside, Tomatin, Carrbridge and Aviemore. We parked at Ardvonie Car Park. Creag Bheag is Gaelic for ‘Little Rocky Hill’.
That’s Anne’s Fusion parked.

We walked up the park to get onto West Terrace which we followed to the end.

As we walked along we saw a bonny wee red squirrel.

At the end of West Terrace the path up Creag Bheag cuts off to the right by some newer and less bonny houses. This is looking back after climbing a wee while.

The day was quite pleasant at the moment.

Looking back from further up. There was some sunshine around but we could also see rain clouds. That was not forecast. It is amazing how so called scientists can predict global temperatures in 50 years time but not drizzle the next day. It makes you wonder!

The views really started to open up.

We found a seat near the top and had our lunch.

The ‘summit’ of Creag Bheag. As we started to go down the back towards Loch Gynack the drizzle came on and we were quite damp by the time we got back to Kingussie. A couple of young runners passed us, making us feel really old

Photos were much poorer with the reduced visibility.

Looking down to Kingussie.

Looking down to Loch Gynack.

The path down was interesting!

The paths are really well signposted.

Just as we reached the golf course we came on these ancient buildings. Quite atmospheric.

That is where we have been.

The Gynack Burn.

We passed this disused hospital. It was built as a tuberculosis hospital.

We came down to Kingussie and went to a couple of shops. We then went back home by Feshiebridge, Nethy Bridge and Carrbridge.
