A circular walk from Fairburn to Orrinside (4.6 miles).

Anne and I had another lovely day away from home. We went for a run up Strathconon. After our lunch, by Loch Achonachie, we walked from Fairburn House to Orrinside using the public roads and then returned by a track alongside the River Orrin.

We parked at Fairburn House, which is a residential home. Quite a place!

There were beautiful views out along Easter Ross as we walked along the very straight road from Fairburn House to Black Dyke. That is Loch Achonachie.

Behind that dark green hill (Cnoc Mor) is Knock Farril or the Cat’s Back, a walk we have done often. There are different ways of spelling , eg. Knockfarrel or Knock Farrel.

The turn off at Orrinside.

What a lovely lodge at the turn off.

The track beside the River Orrin was superb.

Cul Beag and Cul Mor.

The trees had a strange very yellow lichen or moss growing on them.

The Falls of Orrin.

That wall may not be up to the Incas of Machu Picchu builder’s standard or even ancient Egyptian pyramid builder’s standard but it is still some masonry work.

It was a most enjoyable and easy walk.
