A walk from Blacksboat to Garvault (9.5 miles).

Anne and I walked another section of the Speyside Way, from Blacksboat to Garvault. We had walked from Blacksboat to Carron back in late December last year. As usual we did the journey both ways as we have to park and return to our car, so the actual distance further along the Speyside Way was just 4.7 miles! We parked again at the disused station at Blacksboat and walked to Garvault.

We were staying in Portknockie yet again for another holiday. We drove through to Buckie to get some supplies at LIDL and then followed the Satnav out to Blacksboat Railway Station just before Marypark. We started walking at 11.50. This is just a little bit along the Spey.

Spring is such a wonderful time. Today was starting to get warm!

We reached the old iron viaduct at Cragganmore at 12.40 and stopped at a seat with a wonderful view to eat our lunch.

We passed the old Ballindalloch Station after our lunch just beyond Cragganmore.

What a wonderful avenue following the old railway line.

Some disused railway building. I wonder who warmed themselves beside the fire?

Eventually the Speyside Way leaves the old railway line and starts to climb. As you come out to some farmland it is boggy and duckboards and rocks help keep your feet sort of dry.

This track takes you to the busy A95. There is a path beside the road keeping the walker a bit safer. We followed the path to where the Speyside way started to climb away from the A95 at Garvault. We reached there at 2.00. There is a parking place fairly near that we may use next time.

But we had to head back.

We stopped at our seat at Cragganmore to have our afternoon snack and got back to Blacksboat at 4.00.

My very ancient Fusion which has just passed another, and probably its last, MOT.

I ‘borrowed’ the map from Maximum Adventure’s website.
