A run on the ‘new’ wee ZSB to Strath Naver (143 miles).
I have sold my trusty scooter (or maybe not so) and replaced it with a 2016 Lexmoto ZSB 125. It was MOTd a week or so ago and now I wanted to take it for a good run and this one is an old favourite.
I left home rather late at about 10.45 and went down to Alness to the bank. I headed by Invergordon, Kildary and the Scotsburn Road to Tain. I was held up for a long time at Barbaraville with roadworks. This set me back a bit timewise for the day.
I went to ASDA to get petrol. Here was a disappointment, on a rough calculation the wee bike had done about 100 mpg. My last Chinese motorbike could do 130 mpg and so could the Vonroad scooter. The ZSB is running lean by it’s plug colour, so maybe getting the carb set up properly might help.

I then went to Home Bargains to get some Mars Bars. It has the best prices around.

Then it was jump on the wee bike and head north. I went over the Dornoch Bridge and turned off at Cuthill to go through Dornoch and out on the Embo road to the Mound. This is looking north.

Littleferry with Ben Bhraggie beyond.

I stopped by Loch Fleet.

The ruins of Skelbo Castle.

I then went through Golspie and Brora and turned off up into Glen Loth. I love this road. Just a wee bit up I stopped for a late lunch. The whins are still giving a show though they are past it back at home.

I took my wee stove and collapsible kettle to make a delicious lunch, I think it was ALDI’s version of a Pot Noodle called Snack Noodles. I also made a mug of coffee and had a packet of LIDL Potato Hoops and a Mars Bar. I have to say I really enjoyed it.

Glen Loth is wonderful and apart from a couple of fencers met no other traffic.

Morven and Scaraben.

This part of the road had been degraded to almost rubble last year when I was on it but it has been resurfaced! Amazing.

After Kildonan Station I turned onto the Halladale road and went on to Kinbrace where I turned off to Syre. I stopped just to rest my legs and shoulders. Not as comfortable as the old scooter!

Ben Klibreck.

Syre. At Syre I turned south.

Loch Naver starting to show.

Loch Naver and Ben Klibrek.

I pushed down Strath Naver and went through Altnahara where I turned south. Loch Naver just showing on looking back.

Ben Klibrek.

I stopped further down Strath Vagastie now ruined by the windfarm. I had a bit more to eat. The day was really cold for June and since heading south I had got very cold on the bike. I had taken warm clothes with me.

I went on to Lairg and went down the Invershin road to stop at the Shin Falls.

You have to pay at the car park but I found this place to get the bike into. Cheapskate.

From there it was onto Bonar Bridge and over the Struie to get home arriving at about 5.20.
The wee bike drove well but found the headwind going south a bit challenging. I have to get used to it. I will do a carb tune-up and see how that does. It does the job though.
Great to be out on two wheels.
