A walk from Broughty Ferry to Carnoustie (8.9 miles).
Anne and I were having a wee holiday in Dundee. We had walked from our hotel to Broughty Ferry last night.
We left our hotel at about 9.00 and drove out to Broughty Ferry where we parked just beyond the castle. We were intending to walk to Monifieth and back.

The pavement to Monifieth was fantastic. We stopped at a seat on entering Monifieth and had a wee picnic.

I think the river is called Dighty Water.

The railway line was very busy.

At the other end of Monifieth we saw signs for the Angus Coastal Path to Carnoustie and made a spur of the moment decision to walk there and get a bus back. I did a quick research and found there was a regular bus service – number 73. So off we went. Being old we have these amazing ‘bus passes’.

Beyond a caravan site there was a great cycle path that followed the railway line with a military range to the right. This took us almost to Carnoustie.

A red flag was flying!

Nearing Carnoustie we passed Barry Links Station.

Getting into Carnoustie.

Quite a building. DJ Laing is a building company but the building looks as if had been a factory at one time.

I think this is the Carnoustie Golf Links Clubhouse.

When we passed the golf course and got into the town, the street that took us up to the town was Ferrier Street.

I had to take this one. What a cheek to deface the Ferrier name! There are hooligans in Carnoustie.

We got up to the town, checked bus times, found from locals where a toilet was and went to a park that started at the bottom of Ferrier Street.

We had our wee picnic lunch in the park.

We then used the public toilet in the Sports Centre which was just across from us.

That sign makes you so proud and it has not been vandalised.

The Memorial Park near the top of Ferrier Street.

We had a look in some charity shops and then caught a 73 bus at about 1.20 back to Brougty Ferry.

We had a wander round Broughty Ferry looking at more charity shops. We bought a couple of cream eclairs at Greggs and a can of American Cream Soda at SemiChem. We walked down to the castle and had a wee rest on a seat. We went to the castle and as we got into it quite heavy rain began to fall.

After a look round the very interesting museum when we came out the rain had stopped. We came to where the car was parked and had our eclairs and cream soda looking out to sea sitting on a nice seat. We then drove back to the hotel.I really like these places – Broughty Ferry, Monifieth and Carnoustie. Dundee is a great place. The walk was excellent with a superb surface.
