A walk from Prosen Village to beyond Glenprosen Lodge (8.0 miles).

A lovely sunny morning but the day got duller as it went on.

We walked up Glen Prosen to Glenprosen Lodge and then a wee bit beyond.

We walked out the wee house at Prosen Village and went down the road a wee bit to reach the bridge over Prosen Water which we crossed and then turned right up the glen. This photo is looking over Prosen Water to our wee house at Prosen Village.

Looking down Glen Prosen.

The hill is Balnaboth Craig which we walked to the right of when doing the Minister’s Path on Tuesday.

It is a fairy-tale landscape here in Glen Prosen. On some maps and websites it is Glenprosen, on others it is Glen Prosen. I don’t know which is correct.

Cormuir Farm. A timid wee Jack Russel came to see us but ran off! Unusual for a Jack Russel.

This is the marker at the entry into the Cairngorm National Park. We have seen the sign many times at the north side of the park at Slochd.

Near the Glenprosen Lodge at the end of the road car park was this ‘toilet’. Anne refused to use it!

Crossing Prosen Water again.

We think this is Glenprosen Lodge though the map on my phone suggested it was the forestry office further on. It was a huge house. The forest here was destroyed by wind and the wall round the lodge is broken.

Probably we should have gone up that road following Prosen Water but we continued straight for another half mile to give us an eight mile walk. That building with the new metal roof is the new Bothy Distillery but it did not seem to be in use.

That is what my phone’s map suggested was the lodge.

Looking further up Glen Prosen.

This is where we reached. What a cheery pair!

We came back down to above the Bothy Distillery where there was a seat. We had lunch here. It was 12.30.

Our lunch seat; very considerate.

It was then a matter of retracing our steps.

The bridge below the house over Prosen Water.

We arrived back at about 2.00. Another wonderful walk in this wonderful part of Scotland.
