Off on holiday to Glen Prosen (158 miles).
Anne and I left our house at 10.30 setting off for a short holiday in Glen Prosen in the Angus Glens.
We picked up diesel at Tesco in Inverness and then drove down to Kingussie where we stopped for lunch at the car park at Gynack Road. We had our lunch picnic in the car and then went for a wee walk to stretch our legs (1.6 miles).
We made use of the public toilet.
We headed back onto the A9, via Newtonmore, and headed south branching off towards Blairgowrie a few miles before Dunkeld. When we reached Kirriemuir we lapped the town centre a it few times before finding the COOP where we stopped to buy enough supplies to last us a couple of days. The important purchase was microwave ready meals. We headed to Dykehead and then onto Prosen Village.
We arrived in Prosen Village at 4.15, explored the wee house, “Burnmouth” and unpacked the car. It is the most cute little cottage.

We are beside the Glenprosen Parish Church.
Before tea we went on a wee reconnaissance, first to the top of the village. When we reached the private road to Balnaboth we came back down to the junction and walked a little bit up the road that goes to Glenprosen Lodge.
The hill in the photo is Balnaboth Craig and you can make out the church and just about see the house to its left. Balnaboth Craig featured in our photos and walks over the next few days.

It was just a short walk (1.6 miles) to get our bearings and to settle ourselves after the long drive down. This was the start of an amazing week.
We had our tea (microwave Korma curries) and settled down for a nice lazy evening.
