A walk up Strath Brora (5.0 miles).

Mairi and Graham treated us to a lovely day out and then to tea at their house. We went out to Saltburn before 12.00 and Mairi drove us in her wee car to the ford by the River Brora at the Doll. We had a lovely picnic in their car.

We started our walk at about 1.15 by going over the bridge by the ford. We saw a four wheel drive vehicle drive down to the ford but think better of it and reverse back. The water flows quickly and it was quite deep.

The Brora River.

The track follows the river and maybe a mile up you come to this strange forest. The trees are most unusually shaped.

A little further on is the loch which is just stunning.

By the shore of the loch. After this we walked along the road.

Graham took the ‘selfie’. I’m getting nearly as bald as my dad!

Anne tries to spoil another photo by hiding behind Mairi! At least its not a photo from behind, which is the usual.

There is a memorial cross on that island.

Zooming in shows it better.

We walked up to Gordonbush.

We didn’t return by the river path but continued by walking down the road and then taking the road out to the ford.

Mairi took us to Brora Harbour where we had more to eat and then back to their house for a lovely tea and evening.
