A walk up to Boath, Acharn and behind Fyrish (10.3 miles).

Charlie (David) and I went for a “man’s” walk on this last day of 2025. Charlie came down to our house and the two of us left at about 10.15 walking up the Boath Road to Boath. At Boath, before the school, we cut up the track to the left to take us around Acharn Wood. At this point very light drizzle started, enough to make seeing through your glasses a bit annoying.

We continued round Acharn Wood and followed the track out to below Cnoc Ceislein. This is looking west, across to the Novar Windfarm.

Cnoc Ceislein. We stopped here at the top of the pass at around 12.30 for lunch. A wee picnic on a day out like this is just the best. However we got very cold by stopping.

Looking over to Beinn Tharsuinn.

That is Fyrish ahead. You can just make out the monument.

Zooming in to the image shows the monument a bit clearer.

The track then starts to go down after reaching a height of 1395 feet. This is coming nearer Fyrish and looking east.

The new Strathrory Windfarm can be made out in this image to the north. Another abomination on the Highland landscape.

Looking back at Cnoc Ceislein. You can just make out the track we have come down in the centre of the photo.

This must be worst hat of the year. Either that or I have a pointed skull!

The Cromarty Firth coming into view. The day was starting to improve and the drizzle stopped.

Fyrish.

After coming round to more familiar tracks and coming round the front of Cnoc Duchaire, there is a lovely view to Beinn Tharsuinn.

The Cromarty Firth.

We came back down onto the Boath Road about a mile from the house and came down it. We arrived back at our house at about 2.15.

What a wonderful last walk of the year with my son. My family is the best!
